If it is meant to happen, it will, eventually….
I first met Ross Thornley, MABP and Mike Raven from AQai – Adaptability Assessments & Coaching at the International Coaching Federation CONVERGE 2023 Conference in Orlando last August.
As I have been doing lots of work empowering leaders around the world on emotional intelligence (EQ) for many years, I found the work on Adaptability highly intriguing. However, this AQ journey did not start then as I was committed on a 9 months Coaching Supervision journey with Damian Goldvarg back then.
Fast forward to Bhutan during the opening ceremony of the Bhutan Innovation Forum on October 1, 2024. In the crowd of hundreds of delegates, speakers, coaches, VIPs, I ended up standing next to Ross Thornley, MABP. I believe this was no coincidence and the timing was right.
Glad to reconnect with Ross and restart the conversation around AQai – Adaptability Assessments & Coaching. During the week in Bhutan, we even had the opportunity to hike up the amazing Tiger Nest Monastery, with the highest elevation at 3,120 m ( 10,232 feet ) with other fellow coaches Shailesh Chaudhry Mo Kasti Zachary Ames and Karen Thornley . That incredible hike was a whole story of adaptability, leadership insights and discoveries.
Although this October was one of more demanding months with travels, speaking engagements, workshops and learning certification programs (3 different programs this month), I decided to embark on this work on Adaptability with Ross Thornley, MABP and AQai this month. Thanks to technology I was able to attend the 3 online zoom sessions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Bali, Indonesia and Guilin China.
Thanks to all my fellow AQai cohort members who contributed so much insights via the super active discussions on WhatsApp. The learning portal, reflection, workbook and opportunity to experience the AQMe assessments and conduct debriefs for our clients were fantastic!
Thanks to the support by Scott Rencher , Bonnie Ziervogel and Mike Raven for having me in this cohort to begin my journey in helping more leaders and organisations assess the level of adaptability, from an individual, team and organization level.
Timing is perfect as this will support my ongoing research for my upcoming book and ongoing conference keynotes on “Leading with Courage, Compassion, and Adaptability in the era of Al: The Future of Empowered Leadership”.
